WMP - Can't Manage Libraries or Create Playlists

Installed a new hard drive and moved my media files to it. Now Windows Media Player won't let me organize libraries or create new playlists.

I reconfigured my libraries in explorer (removed old locations and add new ones). My media and existing playlists show up in WMP just fine. However, if I click organize->manage libraries and select anything but recorded tv (which does not appear in my explorer libraries), nothing happens. And if I attempt to create a new playlist, I receive an error.

Figuring the WMP database was corrupted, I went through the standard drill:

* Stop WMPNetworkSvc service
* Delete all files in %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player
* Start WMPNetworkSvc service

When I start WMP again, it happily reads all my libraries and rebuilds its database. However, I still can't organize libraries or create new playlists.

I'm out of guesses. Any ideas?

Still no clue what was wrong, but I found a fix. Performed a system restore to a point prior to hard disk install and started the process over again. Now WMP appears to be functioning normally. Very strange!

Same Problem

I have the exact same problem. WMP used to work just fine and now I cannot create play lists. I don't know when it happened as I don't use WMP that much.

I too have tried all the recommended fixes to clear appdata
Any IDeas?

I already have my music playlist included in library. That is not it.

I realized I needed to include my entire music folder in library instead of just the playlist. That worked. Thanks
Funny thing about the tutorial you sent me - I have no toolbar button for include in Library.

you might have to do it the other way round..
link WMP's Music Library to the file, rather than adding the file to the player

look in Libraries under Music (- it usually refers to your MyMusic folder)..
an option should be there somewhere, which allows you to include other files/folders, etc..
you may have to navigate from the options menu to the specific destination, to make the link..
