I recommend you download and install MP3Tag, and use it to clean up the undesired results of using Windows Media Player to build your MP3 files.
MP3Tag is a very highly regarded, powerful, and user-friendly program that can handle any type of music file and tag, including imbedded album art if you want to go that route. You can manipulate one or more files at a time, recurse through folders and sub-folders to show all music files in the structure, etc.
No matter how you build/buy your music files, using a program like MP3Tag to maintain tags as necessary is something we all will find necessary at some time or another.
