Hello im using win7 (64bit).

My wmp media streaming (known as media sharing in earlier wmp versions) is turned off.

Also in my network settings, the network discovery & file sharing are turned off .

But today , when i opened my wmp (internet was disconnected at that time) , i saw a name of an unknown person/computer under "other libraries" option of wmp . After a couple of minutes it dissapeared from the list.

Im a little worried here . Can unknown PCs connect to my system or can they access my media if they show up in my wmp ?? Please help

we have been busy answering other posts, also not everyone on the forum has the answer ,and not everyone has wmp knowledge,
that said what is this unknown user showing as in wmp, could you post a screen shot when it appears next time.
the more information you can provide us with the better we can help, (preferably in the first post)

By unknown user , i mean to say people who are on the same network (the network in which i am)
Here's the screenshot -

If you open your wmp , you will notice a tab called stream (check my screenshot) , with that option a person can stream, play or share their media with other people & their computers when connected to the internet.

One could turn off the streaming feature , by going to the stream tab.
And i did that too . I turned it off , since i don't wanna share or stream my files on other people's computers who share the same network like me.

Also i turned off my file sharing and network discovery , by going to my computer > network > network and sharing settings > change advance sharing settings.

Even after all this , other unknown users , who don't belong from my family or live in our house , but are actually strangers to me , who share the same network like i do , keeps showing up on my wmp.
All i want to know , why they are showing up , even after i turned off file sharing ??
Is there any danger of invasion of my privacy , like them getting access to my files ??
