We are all familiar with the wmp's mkv playback issue: when you play a matroska video file directly from the library, the seek bar disappears, and if you try to click on it, the movie will start from scratch.
The main reason people stick with wmp I think is the library manager, and is annoying to open files from the folder instead of having the ability to use its library.
The reason of all this is that wmp library doesn't support mkv, along with a lot of other filtypes, and isn't able to read the tags from them, not even the length so when you open it from the library it doesn't know how to manage the file in its length.

Now the solution: WMP tag plus plug-in manages to add the library support to audio file types like flac, ape, m4a and ogg and fixes the issue. If anybody would be able to write a similar plugin for video files like mkv and flv, the problem of thousands of people (according to the number of related posts on various forum) will finally find a wolkthrough.

WMP doesn't play mkv by default. If you can wait a couple of months, Windows 10 plays mkv in WMP (and shows length of movie if you click the seek bar).
