Have had problems with this wretched program since almost day 1 am trying to burn CD's but end up with this in the pic - any ideas please before I go really nuts.
PS have done SFC and CHKDSK with /f /r and the WMP fix it tool from MS

Jack tried that too mate and the car will not play it and Ken I did try Audiograbber but have not had much luck with it as there was so much bloat with it.
Am considering this {Last Chance} 75% Off 15-in-1 Media Suite Special Bundle + Extra 10% Coupon to be honest and there is malware on the machine making even shutting the machine down impossible - have to power off using the power button MBAM and SAS found some stuff but my main Kaspersky is stuck at 98% so all I all since buying this laptop last October have been plagued with problems.

Thanks Colin I tried the Audiograbber and got a heap of malware which took some clearing.
Seems to be linked with me importing Music from my main desktop which itself has problems with WMP.
If you remember a while ago you were going to check the files in a DXDIAG for me when I had posting problems I found disabling the media centre for a bit seemed to cure it so maybe it is all tied into a bad WMP install with the WMP on that machine. But I will try the CDBurner and if things are still crook then I'll buy that Cyberlink program.

Sorry about suggesting vlc :/
Since the music came from another machine possibly take ownership of the files,
Fwiw I've never been able to burn anything in wmp
I just tried xpburner and it just kept freezing up just as wmp has done just testing when you asked.
Wasted 4 disks testing
I might try in Linux to see what happens later :/
Cheers.

Yes mate I have never had problems burning with WMP before and I liked the quick and easy way one can drag tracks from several albums to make a compilation CD of you very favourites but since I had that posting problem here on this forum, the WMP has never been the same despite two clean installs.
Now I am on my old Toshiba this afternoon and it has no music except the sample rubbish they give you but it is burning that to a blank. So I might have to restrict my activities to this machine until I get something sorted.

Very odd I just used Audacity to trim and save to .wav files and burned the suckers with K3b and boom done
Not sure yet if it plays or not but I've never been that far before in windows without some silly error message during burning :/
Linux will be my burn place
Hope you figure it out I've given up on wmp :/
Cheers.

So do I Ken if the WMP stays ok on this machine then it just means ripping the music over again.
Now you mention Linux I have a bootable Linux mint MATE stick - but am not sure what Linux uses for audio stuff but I suppose if I have a Google first to see maybe I will have to boot one or the other laptop - probably the one that is giving me grief as it has got a fair bit more grunt and features than this old girl.
Thing is at least the Windows will not be able to interfere with the stuff I want to do doing it that way eh?

Audacity is listed in the Free great programs list for windows although I didn't use the windows version,
It was a little bit more interesting to use than the K3b but it's a cool sound editing program for sure I'll use it allot I have quite a few music files with annoyingly long delays at the beginning and end
K3b I didn't get much from google on it but it's an extra download with the software manager/ Video and sound so it's one of the top highest rated utilities but I'm not sure if it has a windows freeware version but was very easy to use so easy this caveman was able to use straight away
I'm sure you could use either using VMware I'm personally using Linux mint mate 17.1 not in a vm though my processor is only a dual so I don't want to stress it with a vm
Might be an alternative to try to burn with Linux and K3b "if" xpburner fails which it failed for me
Cheers.

Yep Ken I might try that one too as I cannot get any answers out of Cyberlink or Nero which also has an attractive offer. I don't mind paying as long as it works what I want it to do and that is really just ripping and making compilation CD's

Sounds more like a files issue than a wmp issue to me like I said wmp is very finicky but if a corrupt file exist nothing will burn it,
Just you saying ripping them again fixes the issue so :/
Either way I've edited and burned 5 other disks so far in Linux all work great in truck's player

Ok Ken I will try the Linux on my days off - will have more time to do that.
The problem I agree is a file one and coincides with a problem I had a while back when my replies to the forum were being lost. But even a clean install did not fix that until I temporarily closed the Media Centre.
So why this whole thing has blown up in my face is a mystery and leaves me thinking maybe it happened when I installed a larger SSD to the main machine to stop the post problem and clean install maybe I have just got unlucky with a dodgy drive? The other source malware is possible I suppose being carried over the the new laptop with the music files which like you say are corrupt themselves.
But several scans with anything I can think of didn't come up with anything so I shall clear the music library in the new laptop and then transfer the music from Toshy via stick to the Asus.
As I think I mentioned the Toshiba is working as should be and I am busy re ripping the music to it.
Anyway thanks to you and everyone who has chipped in help me sort this really irritating problem out
