WMP wrong thumbnails

Despite deleting folder/thumbs.db and Album Art Cache files and WMP databases (while NOT hiding hidden files), corruption continues with the wrong thumbnail images appearing on some music cuts.

And results change when the above measures are taken, but the objective of having most cuts display only the standard 'note' icon is never reached.

The back-up folders for these music cuts also show thumbnail corruption, but different corruption.

I have tested virtually every hint seen in various forums, to no avail. Obviously, the databases are hosed. Is there no way to reset them?

Gave it a go, per Fix a corrupted user profile

Created a new account. Copied old <username> folder, changed permissions and pasted to the new <username> folder. Logged on to new user account...

Music file thumbs were generic until first song was played, then most of them - not all - wrongly displayed one of the few legit thumbnail album images, as before.

Deleted the hidden FOLDER.JPG.
Deleted the unwanted art in the Album Art folder.
Deleted DESKTOP.INI
Deleted all hidden ALBUM ART files.
Applied media changes in WMP.

Most, but not all of the errant thumbs reverted to the default 'note' icon. Others stuck with the wrong image. The database shown in Media Player itself was unchanged and appeared to be correct.

Thumbnails for files that I have downloaded - WMA and MP3 - are the issue. The three or four legit album covers associate themselves with incorrect files - a few or many. Totally random. However, W7 SAMPLE music album covers never do this.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I had the same problem and looked around too and tried a lot of the recommendations found so far in the internet, but with no luck at all.
The reason for is that every image contains a thumbnail in its own metadata part. Win7 seems to corrupt this thumbnail by a wrong thumbnail when reworking, deleting or changing images - the tools used for this are not of any relevance. I think it is really a win7 bug.

But now I've found a really nice solution: XnViewMP
The program is free for noncommercial use, and it allows to recreate the thumbnails that are contained in the image itself. Install XnViewMP, start it,
open the directory, where the "wrong thumbnail" files are in, press Ctrl/A to select all images, then choose in the menu bar Tools>Metadata>Rebuild. This will recreate and store the thumbnail contained in the image itself.

If you dislike to change your image files, you can uncheck option/Thumbnail - Use embedded Thumbnail.

Besides this the program XnView or XnViewMP mentioned here is excellent to arrange images, and to rename them according to their arrangement to keep their new sequence for later use.[COLOR=#000000 ]
