I have the WMP default to x64 mode following this tutorial:
Windows Media Player (WMP) - Vista Forums
and it works fine when I open an individual .mp3 file. When I open a group of .mp3's, it defaults to the x32 player? Any updates to this tutorial for Win7?

running Win 7100 x64

Thats because when you click on the files in windows explorer, the extenion (mp3) its associated with the 32-bit version and not the 64-bit version.

In order to associate with the 64-bit pin the 64-bit WMP to the taskbar then simply drag a document file (like a Word Doc or JPEG) onto the taskbar button for the application with which you’d like to associate that type.

It already defaults to wmp x64. It defaults to x32 only when I open a group of mp3's. Not sure if your solution applies to my issue....

ok try this:

go to Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations
find the .mp3 extension
click change program button
and locate 64-bit WMP.

It should now work.

Nope, doesnt work....a thread from another forum suggested this.,rename the windows media player folder in x86, then copy over the x64 wmp folder from programs. It works fine this way but was hoping for a better solution
