Can anybody help?
Why can I seek through an mkv file in Media Player when I open the file by using "Open with" in the context menu but not when I open the file from the library within Media Player. Not only does it fail to seek, it also returns to the start of the file.
This is a bit of a pain when trying to watch films streamed to my TV using WMP12.
I'm using the K-Lite codec pack.

Just so I am clear, you are talking about skipping ahead through the video?

Try VLC Media Player, it's free and plays pretty much everything.. I like it much better than WMP :)

Yes I do mean skipping forward and backwards using the moving bar below the picture. The 3 headed arrow buttons either side of play/pause don't work.

I use WMP12 for its media server capabilities so obviously it is not possible to do an "Open with" context command from my TV to take advantage of the fact that skipping only works when using "Open with".
