I am new to the Windows7 scene and I am starting to like it- except for WMP12. It does not have half the versatility that WMP11 has, and I'm finding it very hard to figure out the functionality. My issue is that most of my recordings are on an external HD in WAV format. When i add the folders for my music into the library, only about a third of them are recognized as album music and are correctly placed in the WMP listing. the rest are grouped together under "Unknown Album". There is no way to separate them and create albums.the player is constantly "updating library" at the bottom of the screen, but there are never any changes in the listings. There is no way to drag and drop to create albums (like in WMP11), or a way to copy and paste album art for concert tapings. It really sucks that Micro$oft downgraded their player while upgrading the OS! IF anyone knows how to solve these issues I would greatly love to hear from you!

Thanks, :D

You would be far better served by dragging and dropping all your music into your User name> My Music folder. You may want to delate your music from your Music Library first then copy it all over to your User name>My music folder. After that open up WMP and let it do it's thing.

The Libraries Music folder is really just picture icons of the files you have in your My Music folder.

Libraries aren't really made for drag and drop although you can use the menu pane to the left to add files to Libraries.

Thanks Chev55,

My issue with your suggestion is that I have way too many files to drag and drop to one specific folder. I have about 100gb worth of music files, if not more, most of which are on an external hard drive but I have no problems with the files kept on the local drive (which is partitioned). The files on the external HD are all categorized in different folders. With WMP11 I had no problem with creating albums in the player and having it keep track of them. it seems that with 12, there is no versatility to do the same.

I tried deleting the files from the music library and that worked, but WMP12 won't let me delete them from its listing. Is there some special way to just use the WMP12 and just skip using the WMC? is there a way to manage folders just from WMP? And, is there a way to copy and paste album art in 12?

thanks for your help!
