WoL Set up

So I have WOL enables via the device manager to have my ethernet card put to sleep or wake my computer. I need to know what port I need to open in my router, as well as how do I actually remotely wake my cpu up? I'm pretty familiary with computers, just haven't been on top of this really or had the need to use this til now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a netgear WNDR4000 router, Win 7 64 bit on the computer I want to wake.

I'm not going to use magic packets, I found out from a family member who works for DOD for the US government, showed me how using magic packets reveals information and allows your system to be targeted...it's best to ping...you can't infiltrate a pinged computer without hacking, a magic packet sent to a computer will open the MAC id to the world...trust me, it's horrible to use magic packets...and pinging, you just go to start>run>and type in ping IP....and it's way safer and faster...

that's interesting, because the united states department of defense uses it, and I've used it on a computer that's been out of comission for 5 years....it's very possible...magic packets open up an invisible port and allow all your identity to be stolen...trust me...it's possible...you go to cmd and type "Ping x.x.x.x, which then wakes it up, disconneting you, then you remote desktop after 30 seconds....I know it's very very uncommon, the way you described is for average people, but I work through my computer and including total revenue is enough that I'm worried someone my steal my bank account info....

oh yeah, and it does only work for static ips, but dynamic ips are horrible and hardly used as much anymore, except by third tier ISP...

Actually they all do if you have wol S5 ...i know most of this just forget a little bit of it
