Without the Dynex PCI sound card, HDTV wonder is good.
Put in the Dynex card, install drivers (one exists at windows update), tuner code 10 device cant start.

I suppose there is nothing to do about it?
I tried uninstalling the tuner.

I moved cards around in slots.

Why cant the tuner start? What is the conflict?

My Hauppauge cards have been affected by, and have affected, sound drivers in the past. The Tuner drivers must use or update one of the shared files for both drivers. And it's different on different hardware.

As a workaround I've found that I must install the drivers in the right order.
In your case I would suggest uninstalling both, then install the sound card first, followed by the tuner.
See if that works.

good idea thanks.
I uninstalled the tuner,shut down
Put the audio card back in.
rebooted, windows found both the tuner and audio and both started.

Oddly, one of the usb 's did not start?

What are all these usb devices?. Board has 6 ports, I plugged into all usb ports testing with thumb drive and they all work?

on a reboot it went back to the tuner not starting.
Could be the card just is not compatible because why?

And when both were detected, the tuner was having trouble playing, streams were pixilating badly.
Took out the dynex envy 24 card and tuner is perfect again.

What would be a good cheap sound card that can play 5.1 sound output from the minijacks?
center, woofer, rear in WMC?

How about a cheap ebay cm chip type 5.1 card?

What I would like you to try is to uninstall both devices completely - remove them and their drivers from Device Manager, and/or uninstall any software that goes along with them - and then shut down and physically remove them from the PC.

Start up without either, check that all is OK with Windows.

Then shut down, install only the Sound Card, start up and only install it's driver (no software).

Check that all is OK.

Then shut down, install the Tuner Card, start up and only install it's driver (no software).

Note: follow the installation instructions - if they say to install driver first, do so.

Then see if you have the same problem. If so, start over and install them the other way around.

Not sure how to do that, because windows on boot simply reinstalls all the drivers.

What I did was right click uninstall all the devices, then reboot. On the reboot windows reinstalls it all.

It is like windows remembers the device. Does restart without the devices reset windows memory of the device? I think it will just see it and auto install.

Besides that it is a flaky sound card I think because that one time they both installed, the tuner was acting weird, pix-elation, stutters. Makes me think the envy driver is a poor one. And why the usb got affected ? Sound card driver I think.

Even if the driver is on the windows site, does not mean it is any good? This thing is wearing me out.

It is just too funny!
I put that Dynex 5.1 envy 24 card in another pc with an intel server board, and guess what happens?
The 100 LAN NIC on the MB cant start!:D

Any ideas why this card is like a hardware virus?
It is a card you might want to give to an enemy.

It sounds like the card is defective. I think you proved that quite well.
You could look it over carefully to see if it has smeared solder at the contacts, or a crack, but otherwise - into the circular file.
