Wont Load soundcard drivers

Hey guys I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my computer last night and I cant get either one of my sound cards installed. My computer orginally came with onboard audio and vista .. I have a Compaq Persario SR5030NX. I also have a older sound card that I was using with vista for the gameport on it for my wheel for games. I looked on the Compaq site and they dont have windows 7 drivers and the vista ones dont work...what should I do? playing games with no sound sucks

Can you type DXDIAG into command promt (Windows Button +R) and post what it says under audio?

No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.


but in device manager it lists them both with the yellow !

It should tell you what driver you are missing in the reports.Dont buy it,just let it collect the info for you.

See if that does anything.


Have you tried to force vista drivers on yes?

After having a look through the site it seems HP use the realteck audio drivers on that system.

Download the above and your problem should be solved.

ran the scan...said no driver is found for the device....also I installed the RealTek download and it didnt help...this is starting to fustrate me

Strange,it lists realteck on their site.

Have you tried unistalling and reinstalling?

Or forcing the driver in with add legacy hardware and chose from your a list (if you know what it is)

ok I think i know what you ment. I went to update driver and went to the list of drivers and I selected the only one for RealTek but when it tried to install it it said this device can not start

If you know what hardware you have,
Control Panel
Hardware and Sound
Under Device's and Printers should be an icon "Device Manager" (in category view)
Open it
Right click the name (in my case Daniel-PC,just over Computer on the list)
Click Add legacy Hardware
Next
Advanced (install manually)
Pick the type your missing from the list
Pick the Manufacturor
Next
It should try to install it then

ok i got it fixed...I removed the pci sound card cuz with that in my computer it wasnt turning on the onboard soundcard.. thanks for the help tho
