Windows 7 x64, full retail version
HP 8540W (i7 M620, 8GB RAM, 320GB HDD, nVidia Quadro FX 880M)
Computer purchased: 02/2010
Last reinstalled: 09/2010
When my computer is plugged into the HP USB 2 Docking Station at work it will create System Restore points, run ShadowProtect backups, acknowledge new USB devices, and shutdown/restart normally. However, if it is not plugged into the docking station it will do none of those things.
As a matter of fact, Griff's BSOD Dump & System File Collection app wouldn't finish. It hung at "Copying mini Kernel Memory Dump files. . " notice there are only two periods, not three. Ctrl-C would not close it so I had to close the window using the Close icon.
Using Process Explorer I have found 5 processes are running at the office which are not running when away: WUDFHost.exe, TrustedInstaller.exe, SearchProtocolHost.exe, SearchFilterHost.exe, and sppsvc.exe.
I occasionally have BSODs but the consistent issue is the "Won't Shut Down Normally."
I have attached what files are present in the BSOD app folder and the PerfMon report. I will run the BSOD Collection app at the office tomorrow and attach it to a subsequent post.
This one is a puzzler and I sure appreciate your help.
