Last night I spent 8 hours typing a story that I had my heart set on for quite some time. I was very proud of myself and how everything was going. Well, after I got done with half of it I saved my document. I went to go open it this morning and every single character in the document has been turned into a space. I am not very thrilled with this. I have Google Searched after Google Search trying to find ways to:

1: Recover the document
2: Find the Windows 7 version of the TEMP folder so I can recover my lost time and effort
3: Just get my document back.

Does anyone have any clue that could help me with anything besides type it again?

Thanks.

Never heard of that happening. If it isn't in the autosave directory, then you are kind of screwed. I believe Word2003 uses the the %temp% variable for it's temp folder if you haven't turned on autosave.

By default, the %temp% folder is %userprofile%\appdata\local\temp.

Okay, well it wasn't in any temp folder, though I made sure the autobackup thing was on. Anyway, I copied the document to a flash drive and put it on my girlfriend's Ubuntu computer and opened it with OpenOffice, now it only shows # signs. The document's gotta be there, because it's detecting that much.

Thanks for your help, guys. According to all the recovery programs my document is far too corrupted to recover. It's okay. I just hope I'll be able to remember the gist of it all. I'm only upset because Windows/Word gave me absolutely no problems at all last night. But I want to thank you for your help anyway. Have a great day.
