Word crash on AutoSave

As I've been browsing through these Forums I could find quite a few complaints about Word 2007 not working as it should under Windows 7.
Common Problems seem to involve crashes at Startup or when trying to save files.

My Word also crashes a lot, but it happens ONLY WHEN WORD IS TRYING TO AUTOSAVE. When I save manually I have no problems anymore (that's when it used to crash when I was using the RC1).

Basically, as soon as the "autosave" process starts, I get a message saying "Word has encountered an error and will now restart"
Then after a few seconds word closes and restarts, but in the "recovered documents"-List I only have old copies of my file. If i then manually navigate to the autosave folder, I can actually see (and open) the .tmp-Files with the latest changes.

For now I "solved" this by simply deactivating the Autosave feature - but since I'm in the process of writing my Master-Thesis that's not really an acceptable solution for the long run.

Has anybody else had that same Problem?

I haven't played around that much with office 2007 so far on windows 7, but I didn't experience any problem.

My first suggestion would be to make sure you have the latest service pack (should be sp2) for office 2007.

If you already have latest updates, including latest windows 7 updates, next step will depend on how you got your stuff. If you are 100% sure both office 2007 and windows 7 (example, checking the sha1 checksum of the iso you have) are fine, might be that you installed something office is not compatible with, so I'd start disabling stuff, or you might even want to test it in safe mode (I never remember launching office in safe mode, but should work) to see if you get same problems.

thanks for the input.

While playing around i noticed that the Problem only occurs with docs that contain Makros. Disabling Makros overall doesn't help though.

When I enable Makros and try to execute one I get an Error-Message as well (but no crash) so I guess I will focus on getting the Makros to work and see if that also solves autosave Problem.

see you
