Word Crashing

Hi all,

I have a user running Win 7 pro x 64 and MS Office 2003. His office is working perfectly except word. Word keeps crashing when being used always with the same error *please see below*.

I am not sure if this is linked but his recent documents for word (usually displayed when right clicking the word icon in the task bar are no longer present but they are for all other office applications.

I have done an office reinstall but both problems still persist and I am now out of ideas.

Can it be assumed that all of the updates to office 2003 have been installed?

What version number is the copy of word?

I run word 2003 on a win7 x64 machine and it's "about word" version is 11.8328.8333 SP3

Stavros, What system spec's is this word 2003 running on?
What other programs are running at the same time. like av and other programs that are in the startup.??

Intel core duo E6300 2.8Ghz
2GB RAM


There are no programs out of the ordinary in the startup, he is part of a domain and only things like adobe and windows services etc are in the startup.

Perhaps the problem is related to an add-on or COM plug-in as the culprit.

Try running Word in safe mode - if it works then track down the offending add-on/plug-in and remove it.

I have done all of this, disabled the only add in present in word (which was sage accounts). It worked in safe mode ( tested it for like 30minutes only) and then have been using word usually.

The application worked for about 2 hours then hung again the same issue mso.dll.
