Hello!

I am experiencing a system crash during the loading screen when playing World of Warcraft on Win 7 64-bit. At certain times I am able to get through to my character and play, however at a later point in time I eventually crash in a similar manner. During the crash, I cannot alt-tab or ctrl-alt-del out. My sound hangs during the crash. I must perform a cold restart. There are no error messages.

My relevant system specifications are:

Intel E8400 3.0 Ghz
4 GB RAM
GeForce 9800GT
TX 750W Corsair PSU
EP45 DS3L Mobo

This is a fairly new computer and I have only recently installed Win 7. All drivers are up to date. I have also tried using older nVidia drivers. I have tried messing around with every possible configuration options available in the game options. At first I suspected it was my audio drivers but I experienced the crash both with older drivers and without any sound drivers at all.

Anyone experience a similar problem?

Check your event logs. Unless you meant no error messages anywhere.

Event log shows nothing but my hard restart.

have you tried adding the process to 'exceptions' in your anti virus? that has sappened to me before with other games. and doing that fixed it. other than that, the only thing i can think of is maybe your overheating your CPU or GPU. iread a lot of people complaining about the heatsink that comes with that particular processor, so it's something to consider.

I don't have any third party anti-virus programs installed.

My CPU and GPU temperatures are average (50 deg C and 70 deg C respectively).

I found a solution to my problem.

I was using slightly different wireless drivers. I did not like my Linksys drivers so I installed drivers from a different manufacturer which provided better performance. Unfortunately they were the cause of the loading screen and random gameplay crashes.

1. Delete "cache" subfolder and config.wtf located in "WTF".
2. Schedule disk check, and reboot.
3. I really recommend defrag your drive before playing.
4. If you are using lot of addons, try curse updater to install libraries separatly :link: :screenshot:
5. Disable DEP "Data Execution Prevention", How to do it? :link:
6. Update your BIOS? :link:

It solves any issues with that game on my system.

I copied the dir and mods / addons straight over from my Vista 32 bit.
It works flawless on the W7RC x64 7001 build.
