my husbands computer got the worm blaster. the computer was working fine in the am.and i had only searched walmart .com. at noon when he turned it on it said it was infected and wouldnt let us go to anything. i am running avg(updated) and mcfee on it. now all of his desktop icons are gone and i cant even get to the start menu. HELP. what do i do. i know i can do a system restore to a point before the virus then run a security scan , but i cant get to it.we are running Vista.

Firstly you should remove one of the anti-virus, running the two is not recommended. You can try re-running the explorer.exe from the run diag. Or right-click on the desktop & click "show desktop"..

Download & install Malwarebytes and give it a intense scan.

You can use REVO to remove these anti-virus in advance mode. Clean out any leftovers!!

I'd advise you to remove both those anti-virus with REVO, then install MSE,,Let me know...

You can usually do a system restore that is blocked in regular mode if you boot into Safe Mode

Most people, including several in this forum, have not had good experiences with McAfee. You may want to consider another AV. You can look here and, see what's out there & make a choice of what you may want to run.
