Right now i am running vista on my computer but I have been wondering if it is even worth buying windows 7? Should i upgrade to 7 or just wait for now till they have worked some of the bugs out of it? I would like some opinions thanks

I think it really depends. I really am happy with Windows 7 and I just built a machine in July and Windows 7 64-bit is exactly what I planned to put on it.

My wife has an HP laptop with Vista Home Premium 32-bit on it, and it's running perfectly fine. No problems, good performance and we have the super easy system restore utility from HP to snap back in the event that a major problem comes up. I simply see no reason to spend any money to move this from Vista to 7 on this machine. Therefore, this one is staying as Vista.

But the real question is if a $119 retail upgrade or $199 retail full install going to impress him enough to justify the cost? That's my issue. I absolutely love Windows 7 and will run it without question on my new build that needed an OS....but I cannot justify $119 to move my wife's laptop to Windows 7...it just wouldn't be worth the $119.

If you are happy with Vista, you should stay with Vista unless you can get windows 7 professional or ultimate for under £30.

If you are going to have to pay more than that, then dont bother.

Simple, YES.

Why? Just look at the windows website, and you'll immedietly see why. ;)

Well, it's hard to argue that it isn't worth $30. I'd buy it in a heartbeat for $30. Worst case scenario, you try it, don't like it..you can resell it and get at least your $30 back.

On the FAQ for that site it says you are eligable for either home premium or professional.

If they are both the same price of $30 then get professional. I got windows 7 professional for $19 (deal now expired) and its definitely worth that. For $30 its worth it.

If you are happy with Vista in terms of performance and system stability, there is no need to switch to Win7 at this time. On a "modest" system, Win7 would perform better because it has a smaller footprint than Vista and the processing has been optimized. I run both Vista and Win7 and have no preference yet (Vista runs on a Quad with 4GBs of RAM). That may change when I install Win7 next month on my SSD (because of the advantage with native Trim support in Win7).

Vista works well since SP1, but, Win7 works even better at the Release Candidate level. It feels more polished and gives the impression that it has been properly tuned.

Deffinately purchase Win7. I have 3 copies of Home Premium purchased at $49 and count myself lucky. Would do almost anythig to get copies of Pro for $30 each.
