Worth installing w10 on fresh ssd?

Would it be better to install windows 10 on a new ssd instead of upgrading 7 already on an ssd?

I certainly wouldn't buy a new SSD just so I could say I installed 10 to a new SSD. Have you already purchased a new SSD for that purpose?

Do you want to end up with 7 and 10 on 2 different SSDs? Or just one of them?

Regarding the "old" SSD with Win 7 on it. As far as I know, your two choices would be to do an upgrade install of Win 10 or a clean install of Win 10. The latter would be done from a downloadable ISO that Microsoft will make available at some point. You'd make a bootable DVD or USB flash stick from the ISO.

It`s up to you, do you want to pay for 10 or upgrade to it for free ?

If they do indeed let us testers do a clean install, then in my opinion, that`s the best option.

I'd say you can have both because the insiders program continues and you can clean install 10 on a new ssd or hdd for that matter and use 10 for free
All that is required is that you must use a outlook.com/ Hotmail/.. email address as login

They backed off of the suggestion that Previewers would get a free copy, and are now saying that you can continue using each subsequent build under the Preview program if you participate in the Insiders program. My guess is that this will be a preview channel that is kept active to test future builds. That may be the only way to obtain a free copy out of it. But you can still keep your Win7 license that way, even run them side-by-side on the same machine.

If you Upgrade from 7 then you can come back to do a Clean Reinstall of 10 on that same machine, but the 7 license is still eaten up unless you go back to Windows 7 formally. So I'm sticking with TP for the forseeable future as no matter how good 10 is (and it is) Windows 7 is still the undisputed best OS ever and may stay that way in the public's mind for years to come.

I taking that thread to post a question about upgrading a retail copy of Windows 7 to Windows 10, or simply install Windows 10 on another disk. The question is not about having a free copy or not.

I'm wondering about the Legacy BIOS Boot Mode installing using the MBR partition & the UEFI Boot Mode installing using the GPT partition.

My question is if Windows 7 x64bit is installed as Legacy BIOS Boot Mode (CSM) so i guess every end-users that will do the free upgrade to Windows 10 will go directly to a MBR partition.

Then one could try Converting Windows BIOS installation to UEFI or Migrate BIOS x64 install to UEFI. or stay with the MBR partition.

Or

Just install Windows 10 in UEFI boot using the UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) method?
