Would a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT work with my computer ?

I am looking to buy a used NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT graphics card or Radeon HD 2900 Pro off ebay. The reason is I want to be able to run the Alan Wake PC game.

I know its not the newest card out there but I think its much better than the one I currently have. Can anyone tell me if it will work with my computer please ?

I have an Acer Aspire ACPIx64 -based PC Desktop computer. I filled out as many system specs as I could, but I couldn't for some, as I am not very technically inclined. Based on the info given though, can anyone tell me if the graphics card will work/fit in my computer and do I need a particular socket/connection type?

Also, if I'd need anything else, such as a better power supply?

Well from GeForce site :8800GT requires 400 Watt power supply,6-pin and 8-pin connectors.
I would suggest you to get 500/550 Watt 18A +12V 1DC good quality power supply as 8800GT on full load requires almost 10 Amps on +12V rail.

Considering other hardware,you should be fine although your 8800GT might be a bottleneck to your i5.

Unless you post us the model number of your acer desktop here, we cannot be sure that your computer can handle such graphics card.

Looks as if the OP has the Model Number posted in the System Specs ..

Though it is listed under Motherboard M3970 ...

The PSU is 300w ...
