See photo. Taken in the 80s.
I am 81 years old worked on some of the first computer controlled on machine tools used in the "Space Race". The first computers used vacuum tubes instead of transistors.
My friend on top of the computer is "Prissy". The top of the TRS-80 was a nice warm place to sleep.
My first personal computer was a Radio Shack TRS-80. known as "Trash 80". It had 2 single sided 5 1/4" floppy drives. Input & output was by floppy or audio tape casette. The tape was fiddley at the best & lost everything at the worst. Tape was used because the floppy capacity was very limited. If you wrote a large program, in a crude form of basic, it would be too large for the floppy & had to be put on tape.
Wordstar a word processor & Visicalc a spreadsheet was loaded from a floppy everytime you wanted to use it. Wordstar & Visicalc were the forerunners to MS Word & Excell.
Any comments on this Oldie but Goodie?
