when i turned on my laptop there was this really
loud beeping noise that sounded like an alarm going off

The BIOS performs a power-on self-test (POST) to ensure a system is functioning properly. When there is a problem, an error message results. Ahhhh, yes....the beep of joy. Gotta' love it when you hear that after reviving a so-called dead motherboard.
