WSOD & BlackSOD, recent crashes & other misc problems

As stated in the original post, they are usually black screens, but I've had a few white screens, and occasionally a grey and white screen. There are some specs in the OP too.
This way:

To help us help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's how: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html#post1530002
Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built.

Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.
After doing this your specs will be available in each of your posts. Click on My system Specs in the lower left of this post to see how it should look.:)
Full instructions are in the tutorial.

The "blackSOD" as you call them are like due to your machine overheating. Clean out all dust that you can find from coolers, vents and fans.

It is a laptop, sorry for not stating that.
I will update all neccecary specs when my laptop has finished backing up, as I don't want to risk the backup failing again. It is 82% complete, so it should be done in an hour.
I will attempt that when I can, but I just find it hard to accept that I've had the laptop for so long, and am only now receiving problems of this sort. Ah well I'll follow your advice: how would you suggest me doing this? It is a Dell Inspiron Laptop, as previously stated.

Laptops are limited in their ability to dissipate heat. There's not much space to place fans and such. Also, over time vents and fans get clogged with dust, pet hair and such. A can of compressed air can help unclog them in many cases. Might I suggest you download Core temp to monitor CPU temps and GPUz to monitor GPU temps. With GPUz, you can click on the sensor tab and log all information about the graphics to any folder you want it too. Then with a crash, you can look at the log to determine exactly what is going on with the GPU.

1. Yes, although I got a BlackSOD soon after.
2. I have done this. However, I have no clue why it says I have no display resolution. I assume it's something to do with the AMD Graphics Driver I downloaded earlier today.
3. I have downloaded this AMD Graphics Driver, posted Numerous dumps, Uninstalled McAffee using it's removal tool, ran the free ESET online virus scanner (before uninstalling McAffee) and downloaded Microsoft Security Essentials.
4. Only Microsoft Security Essentials.
5. I'm unsure what these programs are, sorry.
6. All I have plugged in is my wireless mouse and speakers.

Thank you for your support and patience, everyone. It's much appreciated :)

My suggestion would take a look at post #2 and complete sfc /scannow and the disk check a post back results. These tests are very important. Report back results and let these good folks here help you with the next step. I also suggest not doing things not suggested at this time. Doing things by yourself or using other websites suggestions along with the guidance given here all at the same time will be nothing but a mess.
Now I will get out of the way and watch how things are going.

Thanks for updating your system specs - it really does help on this side.

Also thanks for the status update in post 25. Now, you're getting a lot of information and it might be difficult to figure out what to do when... my approach is to finish the advice given in the order it is given - posting any reports or screenshots requested. You are our eyes and fingers, members are your expert guides.

It might be best to compare your status in post 25 to post 2. Anything that was suggested/requested and has not be done, please complete and report the results. I think that would go a long way in the resolution of the issue on your machine.

Please PUBLISH a Speccy report (in Speccy, file menu -> publish) and post the URL it provides to you. I know a few folks have asked for Speccy info, but I've only seen screen shots. Speccy gathers information about your system so people can look at that for drivers, software, etc. There is no sensitive information in the published report.

I know that members are making software suggestions: either removal or installation. These suggestions are based on the experience of the member, only free software is recommended, and it has gained the trust of the SF members - so you can feel safe about it as well. Many of the software that are recommended to be removed are known to cause issues on Windows machines. Almost every fixup, registry cleaning, as well as a few device simulating software that you might have tried or currently have installed are know to cause issues as well.

The trick to solving computer issues is information and focus. Every member here tries very hard to provide the best and quickest solution to other members. If you follow the advice given and give the member helping you the information they need for the next step, things go very smoothly.

Sooooo, compare your notes to post #2
- was everything done?
- did you post the resulting information? (you have done for some tasks, and
- have you provided a status as you did in post #25 (a very good recap-thanks)

Bill

Okay, sorry if I'm going to be slow in replying. I'm a bit overloaded by college work and various suggestions.

I'll do the sfc/scannow soonish, but for now here's a Speccy Snapshot: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/Z5ZcVLEQDyIUzjltizkWFQ5

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks again for your paitence.

Post the dump infor and someone might stop in for take a look. However, people won't help much unless you follow their advice - you might want to restart at post #2 and double check everything was done. It can only help to be certain that each step is completed.

Post your results so members on this side of your monitor can see what you see.

In post 30 you said you had two crashes. New crashes mean new dumps - remember, no one but you can see the information unless you post it here. Although by the end of this exercise, you might well be able to decipher the information from the dump without anyone's help =:>

Good news re: no malware. Anything to report on SFC or the other things in post 2? How about posting a general status update

Do - McAfee Removal Tool - McAfee Uninstaller
Microsoft Security Essentials
Malwarebytes
Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
ESET online scanner:
Done - In addition, run the malicious software removal tool and WDO:
System Specs are always helpful:
Run the System File Checker
Run Disk Check on your hard disk for file system errors and bad sectors on it:
Please upload your msinfo32.nfo

Anywhere it was originally requested for output or a screen shot, post a new one with the status.

You think it difficult on that side? You have it easy, people tell you what they need to see and all you have to do it follow the directions and tell the person who requested the task what happened. On this side, people suggest actions and wonder what was done.

I know it is difficult to follow many directions from many people, so I take it slow. If KoolKat, for instance, makes suggestions, I follow those instructions until they are completed. Then I respond to that same person if they ask for follow up information. Then if my problem isn't solved, I'll move on to the next person's suggestion and stay on that path.

Thanks for the Speccy report. Soooo how is college going?

Bill
Unless I misunderstood post 30 - No, you haven't, you've posted dumps prior to those - but not the most current ones.
I've already posted dumps.
Also I went back to post 2 and ran the Microsoft Malicious software removal tool which reported no problems.

Alright:

1. I'll uninstall Bonjour now. What is it's purpose, exactly?
2. I already have un-installed McAffee using the removal tool, and installed Microsoft Security Essentials, which reports no faults.
3. I also run the free ESET online scanner, although this was before un-installing McAffee.

I'll try Malwarebytes next probably. I'll fill you in when I can.

Thanks once again to everyone for continued support and patience.

Alrighty:
1. Anti Rootkit Utility scan reports no faults.
2. sfc / scannow also reports no faults.

Sorry for the multiple posts but this scared me.
I just got a Black Screen of Death, but as I was turning my laptop back on, it made a very loud beeping sound, I believe it was 8 beeps, then a pause, then another 8 beeps and a pause.
After this it started up as normal.

Bonjour on Wiki. It is not required on a Windows machine. Uninstalling it should not affect Apple products (iTunes, iPod, AirExpress) since Windows has native Zero Configuration networking. Native Windows services are always better.

Thanks for the updated status - keep following that path until you've completed it and the status of everything requested is up-to-date.

Bill
1. I'll uninstall Bonjour now. What is it's purpose, exactly?...

To be frank I don't know what else I can do. I've done several virus scans, posted specifications... any ideas what next? Sine it's been bleeping on startup I'm quite worried

If you counted the beeps correctly, it is telling you that there is an issue with RAM or your video (from a different reference)
Dell BIOS Post Codes - BIOS Central#

See Dell site for instructions on reseating memory.

Bookmark the Dell site for your Inspiron M5030 (I think that's your machine - check your favorites, there might be a to Dell support link there), there is a lot of information and trouble shooting you can find there

It's interesting to note that your system specs screen resolution is 0x0x0 - it seems to indicate a problem with your graphics card.

Please upload the most recent dump information (post #37). Someone else will have to look at that, I'm not a dump reader.

Thanks
