Hello:
Had similar problems to the OP here this morning with my Win7(x86) laptop:
http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/146459-sp1-installation-problems.html
(Couldn't get SP1 even to download - suspect it might have been some corruption b/c of high server load. Stalled at ~30% several times, ~92% once. Ended up canceling several times.)
Had already read this:
Troubleshoot problems installing a service pack for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2
And had done all the steps, including installing KB947821, to no avail.
Rebooting, clearing temp files, etc. No joy.
I assumed it was going to require some sort of clearing/resetting WU.
So, I followed Shawn's OPTION 2 here:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91738-windows-update-reset.html
It was a bit scary, seeing all the stuff scroll by in the DOS window.
BUT........... it worked!!!!
So, first: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Second (and real reason for posting):
Should I get to a similar point in the process on my x64 desktop, are the WU reset and reset/reregister bat files compatible with 64-bit, too????
