I feel pretty stupid at this point, but I am not able to get a list of commands for my command prompt while running it from a WIN-PE boot disk. I know cmd.exe probably does not have the full compliment of commands that WIN7 cmd.exe does, but at the minimum the help command should be universal. Apparently it is not. How can I get a listing of available commands that I can use?

Do you mean cmd /help or cmd/? ?

I typed help by itself & in so many words it states that this command is not recognized.

I can get help for a specific command like diskpart /? , but that requires that I know apriori that dispart is a legit command. I want to get a list of what commands are available.

Thanks for the list. It appears that HELP indeed is not recognized as a legit command within WIN-PE. That's just DUMB!

Does the Help command at \Windows\System32\help.exe exist?

Oh. Fair enough.

One can copy the Help.exe binary if desperate but it's not like it's needed anyway.

Remember commands you commonly use and supply the /? switch to commands to recall its parameters and you should be right.
