X64 v.s. X86 ??

Ok i posted earlier tonight about an older emachines i just picked up for 20 bucks,,, well i installed W7U x86 because i thought the cpu wouldnt support x64 but now i find out it does.
Would it be worth it for me to reinstall with X64?
Ive always been under the impression the X64 system runs faster but then ive also heard that X64 is really only used in M/S office programs or something like that.

If you 4GB of RAM, or more, its well worth install x64.

Like golden has mentioned,if you have 4gbs of ram or more then yes.If you have 3gbs of ram or less then i would advise to install 32bit unless you plan upgrading your memory soon and your motherboard supports the higher memory.

True,, this thing only has 1gb of PC2 5300 so not that good on the ram,, so far though she's working pretty good.

If it's running smooth on 1gb RAM I'd stick with 32 bit, google the model + memory upgrade to learn more about it's maximum RAM and online shopping deals for at least another gig.

A good comparison with what you find in your research is to run Crucial System Scanner software to find out what type of memory is in your computer.

You're wanting to confirm the exact RAM specs with certainty before upgrading as much as possible. Besides good deals you can find online you might be able to find comparable priced RAM at a CompUSA, MicroCenter or TigerDirect parts desk near you. It's worth paying slightly more for the convenience and the security of easy exchange.

Im just updating it then i will sell it off,, i'll let the next person spend the cash on it to upgrade it if they so chose to,,, i will leave it how it is with X86 32Bit on it.
