i have to fix this thread >,< the posts are a little helpful but here is a working solution

1. use DSEO to enable test mode, reboot.
Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.3b

2. download XBCD for windows XP it will work for windows7
XBox Controller Driver

3. install XBCD that you downloaded

4. go to the device manager(in windows), plug in your original xbox controller that you have converted to USB into your pc.

5. the controller will pop up and have an exclamation point right click on it and choose update driver> browse my computer for driver software>let me pick from a list of devices, you will see one or two drivers there chose the top one, hit next and then install, a warning will pop up but install this software anyway and it will work perfectly like mine does.

my UAC is disabled always so you may have to disable yours to make this work

6. using DSEO disable test mode, reboot

thanks microsoft for making this a hassle

hi i tried the xbcd drivers for this just to see if i can get the triggers to work on gta III but it says that the drivers are not digitally signed and thats why it doesnt work??

The driver doesn't show up in the list for me. I suspect that it might be a DSEO or 64 bit related issue.

I turned off the UAC completely from msconfig, then verified in the registry. It is definitely turned off.

After I ran the DSEO as admin, it often (but not always) says "Program has not been successfully installed." Options: a.) reinstall with recommended settings b.) the program installed correctly, c.) cancel. I tried with b and c. Tried also in compatibility mode with XP SP3 and Vista. Didn't help.

I see the device with exclamation mark, but the drivers don't show up in the list. Even if I click on the show all.

In the control panel there is an "XBCD Setup (32-bit)" with a blank white icon. If I start it, there is no Device in the top-left dropdown.

The hardware is OK, it is working like a charm on a 32 bit XP.

Any ideas? What should I try? Any help is appreciated.
