Well the only major differences are the 6 DisplayPorts and the 4GB of memory on them. You're really only going to benefit from these if you're running a 6 monitor Eyefinity setup at max resolution.

Yeah I'm on just 3 displays, and would never run six. This is for FSX, otherwise I run just one 1920x1200, and so otherwise my Gpu is absolute overkill for almost everything else I do. But FSX is very important, very central to me, naturally, and so it was worth every penny, just for that, no doubt about it. Although I rarely recommend these type of cards to friends, but taking into consideration their needs. Very few need the power.

Persecution - the subjecting of a race or group of people to cruel or unfair treatment, e.g. because of their ethnic origin or religious beliefs

Prosecute - take legal action against somebody: to have somebody tried in a court of law for a civil or criminal offense.

I wouldn't necessarily say that; I'd say they probably wrote the article in such a way to give hint that it wasn't genuine. A word clue.

The bid history and the bidders seems apprehensive. There are only 20 bids and the price has skyrocketed to $10,499.00 from $100.00 and the bidders are few in numbers. Most number of bids are done 2 guys. I guess these are employees of XFX just bidding for the extra hype. What do you think guys?

Well the latest e-mail from XFX says all the bids on it are legitimate bids. It did get up to $999,999, but then about 20 bids were removed that brought the price back down to around $10,000, so I guess all the fake bids have been removed.

I think Viral Marketing Ploy had to include Ebay and their actually isn't a card up for sale as it has fluctuated in price and amount of bids so many times. Another thing that is different about this card from what I can tell is the fan placement being in the middle of the card as opposed to the end.

If that card legitimately sells for 10K+ - to a 'normal' home user, (not just a company rep using XFX money) then they are simply a fool.

Well XFX are only making 1,000 of these 5970s, so I imagine people will go to any lengths to make sure they get one. And if I'm right, I think only ASUS and Sapphire are making these 4GB versions, and XFX is the only one to do it with 6 DisplayPorts, so it'll be the one a lot of people are after I guess.

The sad reality is that similarity specced cards will be common place soon enough. (A couple of years/revisions etc)

Paying 10k+ for a 1+K card now - the shame of stupidity will last far longer than the card ever will.

This definitely sounds like a ploy. I really can't see a "normal home user" paying 10K a video card unless they have money to throw away.

Even with "bragging" rights, how much are you going to get out of it for the lifespan of the card?

And with tweaks here and there someone is going to match it for a fraction of the cost.

Sorry that's the wrong card. The one of the 1000 has six monitor support and 4 gigs of DDR5, and the fan is located in the middle of the card. See post #11 for a picture.
