Thanks for confirming that. I think I found a "permanent" solution. I changed to Google bookmark sync, then used Transmute to get bookmarks from Chrome to Firefox on one machine. Since I already have SyncPlaces set up for Firefox, I can use that to sync the Firefox on the other machine. I figure if Google Sync gets broken it will get fixed right away. Foxmarks might take awhile.
btw Transmute seems to work much better than the last time I tried it. I took from Chrome and put in Firefox latest stable and only 2 bookmarks on the Toolbar were out of position. Fixed it up in 5 seconds!! Then just did SyncPlaces to update the Firefox on my other PC.
I wish SyncPlaces would do Chrome so I could just do one size fits all.
I can't win man. I change to Chrome sync and now I keep getting double bookmarks no matter how many times I delete them and set it up again. Unbelievable I have to go through this!
Looks like this is a common problem with XMarks. If you are using it to sync Firefox don't use it with Chrome.
I also have SyncPlaces and CheckPlaces on Firefox. That made it easier to fix. Used CheckPlaces to delete Firefox duplicates. Then uploaded with SyncPlaces and downloaded to fix my Firefox on the other machine. Installed XMarks again on one Firefox just long enough to overwrite the stuff on the server with the new short bookmarks list. Then uninstall from Firefox. Now in Chrome I do a forced overwrite download in each Chrome to get back to sanity.
