XP Mode and Home Network

Hi guys,

I have Windows 7 64-bit installed on my PC with Virtual XP Mode installed. I have an application that I installed within Virtual XP. Now I'd like this application to connect my SQL Server installed in Windows 7.

The problem is I can't access any network resource from my XP mode. The funny thing is I can access the internet from it. I tried browsing Entire network and it sees the workgroup but doesn't see the other PCs in the workgroup.

Any suggestion on how to configure this?

First off Welcome to the Se7enforums! rgbautista

I have some bad news for you on that. While still being able to access the physical drives as well as the internet you are still inside 7 not remote from it as far as the IE connection is concerned there. The virtual network adapter is simply sharing the established physical IE connection 7 already uses.

Unfortunately besides being able to get online and access the drives installed as well as the virtual C vhd drive the XP mode is still a bit limited but serves the purpose of allowing older programs to run free of any compatibility issues with the newer version or even the 64bit kernel while being sheilded and rather isolated in the virtual environment.

Here I went as far as seeing the 32bit RC installed as an upgrade to Vista installed first on a virtual hard drive to find only the floppy drive if one is present and dvd drive used for installation the two drives available there. You can still connect online but..... that was even more limited.
