Help me out here. I have never messed with XP mode and VPC before.

I have installed everything as directed here

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8247-windows-xp-mode-install-setup.html

Now I put a CD in and XP mode sees it and I can open but the exe to install the software will not run. A command box comes up for a split second. If I run as....it says make sure the directory to write to the temp file exists.

What have I done? The CD uses the "UDF" file system

I think I may have a bad software CD here....could that produce these results?

Edit: the CD is fine, I don't know what to think. If anyone has any suggestions. I have some software and a driver that IS NOT compatible with Vista or Windows 7. I am trying to run it in XP mode and it will not run.

Yes, I tried that. It siad it could not read source disc. (yet it shows all the contents) I tried the disc on a Windows 7 computer (not compatible, but it ran) and on 2 XP machines. It ran fine.

I am in over my head. I am going to keep the old computer to print with this GIANT printer......there must be other drivers, but I have searched everywhere. The printer is about 20-30 years old and costs 10,000 USD or I would replace it.

BTW - XP mode works great in every other way. I can install browsers, other programs, etc. if this helps you help me. I think it must be an incompatible program.
