I have my new Windows 7 Ultimate X64 edition installed, and follow the instruction from Miscrosoft to install all 3 files for the XP mode, after the computer re-started. I try to start the XP mode from the start manual. But nothing come up, no UI or any response.

I believed that I have something wrong with the installation, so I have tried to un-installed them and re-install them for few times, but no luck! Then I have tried to repair my re-install my Windows 7 again, and re-install the Xp mode, still no success.

But then if I install the X86 version of Windows 7 Ultimate, I can sucessfully launch the Xp-mode from that!

So now I tried to re-install my X64 Windows 7, and the Xp-mode, I still get no response as before. But if I check the history record, I get this error message: "
Driver Management concluded the process to install driver NULL Driver for Device Instance ID ROOT\VPCBUS\0000 with the following status: 0xe0000203."

Please help, am I doing something wrong??

Hi there,

Your issue stems from the Virtual PC drivers. For some reason they aren't configured properly. Odd, I have a similar setup as you and have been running XP Mode flawlessly for a week now (64-bit). Unfortunately its late and I am unable to research much for you, but one of my esteemed colleagues in a later time zone will be happy to assist :)

Thanks for your advice! I have the "Windows Virtual PC" installed under the "Program Files (x86)" directory, is it correct??

This may have nothing to do with your problem - but I noticed that you said you downloaded & installed all 3 files. The last file on the Microsoft site is NOT to be installed if you already have SP1 installed on your Win7 Ultimate 64-bit OS.
