XP Mode / VMWare Server

Hi,
I have some trouble with XP Mode and VMWare Server.
First I installed VMware Server 2 and had a Vmware Guest with XP -> worked
After that I installed the XP Mode -> worked but the VM's not longer.

So I uninstalled the XP Mode and Virtual PC -> successfully

And after uninstallation and a new installation of VMWare Server, my VMware Guest does not start anymore. (The "Start-Task" hangs up with 95%)

Any ideas?

Hi there

I should re-install vmware server 2. Uninstall it first and re-install.
What's probably happened is that the Virtual Network service has got hosed up ( in vmware its usually the vmnet setvice -- you can't install that by itself - other services are associated with this).

It doesn't take too long to re-install it again. You don't (or shouldn't ) have to re-install or re-create your vmware guest machine.

Hi again -- I saw you've already done that -- well another idea is to copy your guest machine to another directory and try and open it as a NEW VM. (delete the vm from the data store, move the vm to another directory and then add it to the data store in vmware server).

Finally you might have to re-create your guest OS again -- hope you've taken a backup of it.

XP mode and vmware don't co-exist very well although some people have both running successfully.

Cheers
