Hi all,

I am Running Windows 7 Ultimate on a Quad Core Q6600 CPU with 8 GB of RAM. My BIOS has virtualization activated but I can't get XP Mode to launch. During the setup routine I can only get to the point where I have to click on "Start Setup". After that the program disappears.

I have installed exactly the way the tutorial says. If I look at the processes list in the task manager I see VPC.exe and VPCWizard.exe running but that's it. When I start Windows Virtual PC I see XP Mode as a virtual machine but the status is "Powered Down"

Does anyone know this issue? Can you help me??

What do you mean BIOS is set as default?? Because usually you have to set the vitalization to on in BIOS but from the original post you said the vitalization is already on??..

So I would check that again..

When I start Windows Virtual PC I see XP Mode as a virtual machine but the status is "Powered Down"

It might have already installed..(I know this is probably a stupid question but did you try double clicking it??

Hope this Helps..

Welcome to SevenForums, Have you tried downloading again. I dl first time and clicked run and thought I was all set up and then found xp mode in start menu. Clicked on it and got same errors as you. I went back and dl again this time I saved it to my download folder. It took a bit longer to dl this time and then it installed completly. I put in a password and it opened up for me.

By that I meant there are no altered settings in the BIOS. Virtualization in enabled by default.

It might have already installed..(I know this is probably a stupid question but did you try double clicking it??
It had indeed installed but like I said, double-clicking it doesn't help. The status remains "Powered Down"

I reformatted windows 7 and that didnt work either. It worked before but then all of a sudden stopped after last night I hit the sleep button with the xp window open. I tried everything and was about to go back to xp till I tried to open it one last time and it opened. I'm guessing it was a hardware problem, but why would it do that? Anyone know what could have caused this incase it happens again? Thanks

What I did to fix it after trying everthing else was to open up the task manager and disable Fixcamera. Worked like a charm.
