Xp Mode?

Just a question. Not sure if this has already been asked.

So, if I install Windows 7 64bit, cause my cpu can do it along with my mobo, will W7 recognize a 32bit program I install and make it accessable in XP mode or do I have to install in XP mode?

Not sure how this works.

Depending on the program, nine times out of ten your 32 bit program will run just fine in W7 64 bit. If it doesn't, you can then install XP 32 bit and run it in a virtual enviorment.

Yes, if you need to run in XP Mode,, you need to login to XP Mode and install the app there and it will add a link somewhere in the Programs Menu, when you run it, it will run the app as-though it is part of the system with XP Mode (Virtual Environment) in the background.

XP Mode is a virtual machine. It's just like having another physical computer on your network. It's something you have to patch, put software onto, run an AV on, etc.

With that said. How about all the new games out for PC? Like CoD, WoW, etc... Install in XP Mode?

XP Mode and all other Virtual PC virtual machines use an emulated, ancient S3 Trio GPU which can not be changed by user. Running GFX intensive games is not possible, graphics isn't really enough. VirtualBox and VMware virtual machines have a bit better craphical features, better emulated GPU's, but even these are not very good, not meant to gaming.

Just to give an example, I tried to run Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 on Seven installed on VMware virtual machine. I get the game running, with amazing 5 to 8 FPS. It's a PITA to try to play.

Games on a virtual machine? No go... Unless it's something simple like solitaire. You need direct access to the genuine high powered graphics card if you want a good gaming experience.
