So I downloaded the virtual pc & installed the windows xp onto it. My orginal plan was to use it for an old verison of nero that does what I need it to do very well. I didn't know that vitural pcs don't alow you to write onto disks though :(

My question is since it has support for usb drives could I get an inexpensive external dvd drive and burn to that in xp mode?

I just checked with my RecordNow software and it too cannot connect to my CD/DVD writer.

About the USB writer, it should work.

Hi there
try disabling the Integration feature and THEN use Nero on the XP machine.

These sort of apps work fine in VM's - I prefere VBOX / VMWARE but it should work in Virtual PC --. After you've run your application you can "Re-integrate" the XP mode again by enabling integration feature.

You probably will have to share disks with the host machine by using networking - enable NAT or Bridged on the VM to do this.

Cheers
