Hi there everyone! I have a little project that i'm planning to do:

I'm running Win XP Pro in English Intl, I want to go to win7 Ultimate Dutch as an inplace upgrade through Vista Ultimate. Which Vista Ultimate language version do i use? I think i HAVE to use Vista Ultimate Dutch right? Because somewhere i read i have to use the same os language for an inplace upgrade to be possible for win7. But can i upgrade my XP Pro English Intl to Vista Ultimate Dutch? Thanx in advance.

i have to recommend against doing this.you should just back up your data from xp and do a clean install of 7 and import your data into there. you will experience significantly fewer problems and have a more stable OS

Ok thank you! I was dreading the reinstallation of ALL my programs but i think it will be worth the effort! Thnx again!:cool:

For what it's worth, is it at all possible to do? As i might try it and do a clean install after that anyway!

The upgrade keys are language specific, but because you are using Ultimate which includes language packs then you might be able to upgrade XP Pro to Vista Ultimate (allowed), then Vista Ultimate English to Win7 Ultimate English, then switch language packs afterwards.

The keys are supposed to be language-specific, but the language packs included in Ultimate should make the language change possible after upgrade. If you have access to a Win7 Ult Dutch installer, you could even try in-place to it first to see if there is a language exception made with Ultimate.

Thank you Greg but my problem lies with the fact that I already have a Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade Dutch DVD in my possession. And my current OS is XP Pro English and I think I need to upgrade with an English Vista Ultimate to be able to Upgrade XP Pro -> Vista Ultimate am I right? So the real question is can I upgrade from Vista Ultimate (English) to Windows 7 Ultimate (Dutch) If not than my problem is moot and I shall do a clean install with the Dutch DVD. Thnx again for the effort!
