Hi,

I got a laptop from my friend's dad, wich has crashed xp running (acer). They already bought a new computer but they want the files which where on the laptop. When you start up, you see the loading screen from xp (http://www.winsupersite.com/images/reviews/winxp_rc1_rev_02.gif) but then in the middle of loading it just shuts down and restarts. Into the eternity.
I know this is a seven forum, but can you direct me with my question to a good and well known xp forum?

Thx!

Martin

You might take the HD out of the computer & using it with a Tri-Head USB adapter to see if you can find the files that way when you hook it up to another computer via USB.
I got a couple of these from eBay.

Try googling for "Hirens Boot Disk" which is a bootable CD image that you can download and burn via another computer. You then run up your laptop using the CD and away you go. It is packed with useful tools and you should be able to recover the files fairly easily with it. Good luck!
