Hi all
Is it just me or do others prefer the nice 3d-looking taskbar you can get with XP compared with the rather bland one in W7 - even with "standard" themes.

Here's a screen shot of the two task bars - one from a w2003 server Virtual machine (essentially the same as XP) and the other from W7.

Don't get me wrong I like the FUNCTIONALITY of the taskbar but it just looks bland.

Cheers
jimbo

I prefer Win7 taskbar because of the pinning feature.

Not really a fair comparison, is it?

The taskbar you show is not the native XP one!
The native XP bar is super ugly flat blue piece of cr*p with no functionality other than showing open programs and shortcuts.

Your screenshot is a modded version of the MCE edition taskbar.

The question if one likes the looks of it is a personal one.
Personally I hated the blue one, and had the same mod you have on all my XP installs.

That W7 superbar functions make the XP version look like a relic from a distant past, is without discussion.

But what exactly is the purpose of the question in the first place?
Smell's a bit like a Troll question, not what I would expect from a Guru. :sarc:

Greetings

Hi there
what I wanted was a similar looking toolbar on W7 PLUS the W7 functionality of W7 (of course). I'm happy to keep the ORB.

I don't really want to mess around with the ux....dll mod that people are using but use standard W7 functionality (tweaking the registry if necessary is OK but I don't want to "replace" any standard programs with similarly named "unofficial ones's).

cheers

Ok, when I stumble upon something nice, I'll let you know.

Sorry for misinterpreting your question, but it would have been clearer if you asked the question like,
"3D effect on superbar?", or something.

I'm afraid this thread will attract XP fanboys like flies on cow manure. :D

Greetings.
