While trying to remove/disable irrelevant "stuff" on my laptop I discovered the existence of Windows XPS Documents in Windows Features
- in fact I have never heard of Windows Features until today, nor have I EVER struck an XPS file.
. . I started with Windows 3 ... I now know Windows Features were introduced in Vista

Q: If I disable XPS Services will the sky fall in ?
- keywords are "might" and (which) "default settings" ?
- if by "default settings" MS is eluding to file associations, why the vagaries. Rhetorical question
- the link for Go online to learn more ... is all vague generalizations.
MS official explanation XPS documents: FAQs ... was no help for this XPS newbie.
BEST real-world explanation ...
What Is an XPS File and Why Does Windows Want Me to Print to One?
... so can I safely disable XPS Viewer... thank you

Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features
Programs and Features (window)
[Turn Windows features on or off] ... link in left-hand navigation panel
- Windows Features dialog takes about 10 seconds to "fill" with all features
I can successfully disable XPS Services ... BUT ... disabling XPS Viewer shows an alert ...Programs and Features (window)
