Yahoo and other site loading WAY SLOW

I am SOOOO new to Windows 7.

I am the IT support person for a company which had no intentions of moving to Win7 yet, but our CEO got a SONY laptop with Windows 7 home Premium 4gb on the motherboard, 64bit OS

When we are trying to brows the web we have no problem with Google but Yahoo comes up in "compatibility mode" and the items are displayed left justifed. Ebay comes up in "normal" mode but with the items skewed most of the time but sometime it comes up normal...

o...k.....

These "skewed" sites also take FOREVER to load.

I have attached a JPG of the screen with Firefox and IE8 (same thing happens with chrome)

Hi Sheeter. Welcome to SevenForums

A quick glance at your attached picture shows that the Yahoo site at least, is the mobile version of their Website. (signified by the "m" before the www prefix)

Try accessing the browser based pages and see if there is an improvement.

not really. If you type "www.yahoo.com" the DNS to reroutes it to "m.www.yahoo.com"

Sheeter my suggestion would be the following:

First Optimize IE 8:

1. Open Internet Explorer 8.
2. Click Tools , and then click Internet Options .
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Reset Internet Explorer Settings , click Reset .

2. Click Tools , and then click Internet Options .
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Click Reset all zones to default level , and then click OK .

1. Open Internet Explorer 8.
2. Click Tools , and then click Delete Browsing History .
3. In Delete Browsing History , click Delete All .
4. Click to select the Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons check box, and then click OK .

Then download and run Malawarebytes Malwarebytes.org.

No Joy...

I have followed the advice above and there is no difference.

I have installed AVG 9 and run a full scan, I also installed and ran Malwarebytes program which found Hijack.DisplayProperties and cleared it.

Rebooted

No difference.

Thoughts?

I would pull AVG out and put in Microsoft Security Essentials for sanity's sake, and I would also run Malwarebytes again, this time using the Chameleon tool

Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Tools > Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Chameleon

   Note

This tool will attempt to launch Malwarebytes in an attempt to update the definitions, especially if malware has taken over and prevented any other AV/AS tool from working. Even if it fails, it will then try to slay the malicious processes before trying to run Malwarebytes in Quick Scan mode.
:warn: Chameleon may not work if Malwarebytes itself needs an update, or if you're running the Windows 8.1 release preview.

You could also try and check into Google Public DNS. I hardly use it myself. DNS Addressing - How to Change in Windows 7

Yahoo is one of two sites that have been habitually slow for me. In the case of Yahoo, the amount of time it takes to open up the window varies from time to time; it will be reasonably fast for a few days, then it will slow down for a few days. Occasionally, IE will time out. The other one is ASUS forums. Same story, sometimes reasonably fast other times slower, up to and including time outs. I've had the problem with these two sites on two different computers, one being used on several different ISPs, so the problem isn't with my computers or network.
