YAY Dad and I got our car running :D

I am ecstatic right now. Our project car, a '62 Bonneville, is now well on its way to completion

We got it running today after doing a 8-9 month home repair job on the motor. Maybe some of you can understand how happy I feel... our hard work payed off.
Now we need to put the hood back on, remove more rust, get a paint job...

We're debating on this color or the same Navy-Blue it is now.

Nice Ride!, Looks like you did the motor and engine compartment right, nice and clean. I would stick with a color close to the original for the body, Just my 2 cents.

That's what I think. My mother wants to do it in purple, but that seems like it would make it hot-roddy... not a type of look I'm going for.

That blue is nice and fits with the Bonnie. There were a lot of Bonnies in this color.

Nice work! I am going to differ from the rest, as I think the color on your link, on that Porsche, is gorgeous, and would look totally hot on that Bonneville. But YMMV, as the saying goes.

Value wise, I would stick with the original paint color. However, that electric blue on that Porsche looks mighty good.

Great work on the engine. You all have that engine bay looking really good. Enjoy that new, old ride!!

Hehe. We need to fix (or replace) the gas tank, as it's had gasoline sitting in it for 9 years prior to us grabbing it.
Hence the gas can in the front with a hose in it.

I have to agree with that, I thought I had the one in my truck (71 Chev) cleaned out pretty good....Nope! When I did get it to stay running after a bunch of additives and fresh gas, My exhaust smelled like varnish for about a week.
I finally found another tank from a friend and swapped it out, problem solved and lesson learned, that was a PITA.

It is hard enough to clean an old motorcycle tank much less an automobile tank. I used to work on antique cars when I was in college. The worst part in getting a 1920's or 1930's vehicle running was cleaning the gas tank. However, back then you could by solvents over the counter at the local hardware store that are no longer sold to the public.

Well, we've got the hood back on. You oughta see the trunk... it's depressing. After we fix/replace the gas tank, the next job is to bondo the trunk so the holes are not immediately apparent...
