Hello all, I've joined this forum, to hopefully resolve my problem. I've checked on other threads similar, but couldn't find the answer.
I've just bought a non-usb fatality headset. Under recording devices, it simply says "no audio devices are installed". I've put ticks in the checkboxes that say show disabled devices, and show disconnected devices.
The mic is secure in the headset, and switched on, but I'm getting nothing.
In device manager, the audio devices are listed as:
AMD High Definition Audio Device
High Definition Audio Device

Hoping someone can help

One of the problems (may not be the only one) is that you do not have the correct Dell sound driver installed. You have the generic Windows installed basic function "High Definition Audio".

The first step is to get the correct Dell sound driver, assuming there is one for your Dell Model. What is the actual model, such as XPS450, Inspiron 580, etc? I used to do a lot of support on the Dell forums and we found non-Dell drivers either did not work or did not work correctly.

Second question as you have a "non USB" Fatal1ty headset, is it one that requires a special connection or is it just a standard analog headset with the standard 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo plugs for the headset and mic?

Thanks for the reply.
The computer is a Dell XPS 420, and the connectors on the headset, are simply green and pink jacks, that are plugged into the correct sockets.

Here is the Dell Vista driver (it works on Win 7). Install that in place of the generic HD Audio driver. See if this helps.
