Hello, all -- I have two disks (with no partitions) and am currently dual booting Ultimate and Home Premium (both 64 bit), with Ultimate on my "primary" drive and Home premium on the second disk -- available to use by "down-arrowing" to that OS choice during the boot sequence.

I would like to do a clean re-install of the "Home Premium" exactly where it is now on the second disk.

Exactly how would I do this and from which OS/disk? I want to make absolutely sure that the new install of Home Premium does NOT take things over and make itself the default boot OS (as I'm sure it would like to...:D)

Thanks

If you are booting via BIOS boot Menu accessed on Dells by tapping the the F12 key at bootup, then unplug the other HD before reinstalling HP.

If you are using the WIndows-managed Dual Boot menu, then reinstalling HP while Ultimate HD is still attached should update the MBR to maintain the Dual Boot Menu. If not, install EasyBCD 2.0 beta to the new install to Add Ultimate to menu.

If you would like to keep the HD's independent to come and go as you please, then establish a BIOS managed Dual boot as described above.

You can easily change which is default o/s in the boot menu.

Type msconfig in start search , click it when it pops up, click the Boot Tab,. Change it there. Very easy.
