I tried going to Microsoft Catalog yesterday, firstly with FF(no joy, wanted IE6 or better), then with IE8 (still no joy, still wanted IE 6 or better).
 
Maybe it will be fixed with the next IE8 compatibility view site updates that have been offered thru Windows Update..I've gotten a few since of those since testing Win 7. Well, at least with using the official Beta/RC.

the glitch i think is caused by your text settings in IE8

Go to view...text size and change to smaller....that should sort it out

or to make even more glitches appear set it to larger or largest like i did below
