They're both in the same price range and theyre both LGA1155, but wich one should i pick? or should i buy another motherboard in the same price range? (up to $150)

I was also thinking about the GA-990FXA-UD3, or the GA-Z77X-UD3H

This build needs extra cooling for overclocking but i dont know what to get :c
The 990FXA-UD3 is for AMD. ;)

The Z77 Extreme4 is a better motherboard than the P8Z77-V LX and so is the Z77X-UD3H. However, this all depends on if you'll be overclocking. Otherwise, it's strictly down to what features you need such as connectivity options.

Can you list all of the parts that are going into this new build? The hardware you are going to use will dictate what features you need on the motherboard. Also, 8GB of RAM is plenty for gaming.

UD3H.

I will not buy anymore ASUS boards because of their long history support issues, my own included. The ASRock Z77 E4 can be problematic if you plan on overclocking your CPU because they cheaped out on components. Z77 E6 is better, but Id probably still go with a Gigabyte.

I have the Z77 Extreme 4, it's not been a bad motherboard, it's happily been running my i7 at 4.6ghz for a long time now, but it doesn't much like my 2400mhz ram, I have had to back it down to get it stable but really I didn't need to buy 2400mhz ram, it's overkill.

I have managed a maximum overclock of 4.9ghz on my Ivy chip with the board, for benchmarking purposes.

The boot times on it are truly awesome though, coupled with my OCZ Vertex 4 SSD the thing reboots in 18 seconds flat.

Paul.
