Solved Zemana Anti-logger

If anyone knows of a free years license for Zemana, I'd appreciate a heads up, this has to be legit! No torrents or crackers.

Back around September of 2013 I was able to get the license and an extra 90days in May of this year from a Zemana facebook offer and it runs out on Tuesday the 30th of this month.

Steve, I will alert you when there is one. I have consistently extended mine for several years now. I have not seen one for several months, but am confident that if one appears, I'll see it

That would be great Bill! I revert back to the free version if I can't find an offer in time, that's what happened last year, I used free for about a month until I saw the offer for the full version.

With updates I have 1.9.3.527 now.

Bill, I just saw your VM, yes that is what I used to extend for another 90days.

Thanks for helping out scr, but it turns out that your link is the same as the one Bill offered to me to increase the license by 90days. I thought on the off chance that I'd try it and when I clicked on activate this popped up:


So there's a file in the copy of Z that keeps track of the attempts to increase the life of the license and the expiration date.

Look at the discrepancy of the dates when I double checked them. Even though it says Tuesday the 30th 2014, I still have 8days left.


Do I have 2 more or 8 more days left?? And, when does it expire; 12:00am Tuesday morning or 12:00am Wednesday?

Prudence would dictate that I check it Tuesday morning, but then it might be January 7th, 2015?
I believe this difference in dates started when I went for the 90day extension.

Sorry it didn't work out. I noticed the facebook reference in you OP and foolishly thought a twitter extension was available.

No reason to feel sorry or apologize and a fool is only foolish if he doesn't take the plunge, the twitter extension was available. But, just not to me because of the timer files within the Z program. I still admire your initiative!

It's also what I was hoping....The off chance that I could re-up with a different lead-in, but, alas, to no avail. It's the same as not taking the initiative, I would have felt bad if I didn't, at least try.

It's okay, if I don't re-up, there's still the free version and I have other security programs that should allow me to be the confident surfer. Your initiative has strengthen that confidence within me.

I just may look in to using the free version Zemana. I was not aware of it prior to your post. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Oh and I know how to use the full version for at least 90 days.

The Z file has solved the mystery with the expiration date. It synched itself with our machines time/date and I only have 1day left.

Thanks Anak for pointing out the free version.
I'm playing with it, and since installing it I see an Event Viewer warning.

The system I'm using for testing this is:
- Win 8.1
- Real-time protection:
-- Panda AV (free)
-- MBAM (paid)
-- WinPatrol (free)
-- EMET 5.1 (free)
Everything is fully updated.

Is this warning normal, or something I need to "Fix" ?

Something MORE important came up, so reinstalling MBAM is on the second burner.

Steve McQueen in the old 50s "Wanted Dead or Alive" series just started playing.

I don't believe this is something you could fix, as it is caused by outdated programming. Going by the KB in your event warning (KB197571) I found this on the mbam site: https://detected AppInit_DLLs | forums.malwarebytes.org
The mbam discussion centers on Microsoft's (MS) recommendation to stop using this "feature" as there are better ways to load .dlls into the system, the inference is this older "feature" is now used by rootkits to inject harmful code.

Post #7 by Advanced Setup has a good presentation on the subject, and if you're still concerned and want to try and see which .dlls are using the older "feature" Post #14 by tetonbob has a link to run bleepingcomputer's DDS utility.

As an aside; I was using my machine the morning of the 30th when at 2:42am I had a popup for the Zemana full program (Z) alerting me that it had stopped protecting my machine. I uninstalled it and am now running the free version of Z.

Curiously, It (the free Z) told me that since I had Firefox protected with another program (Trusteer Rapport) It would no longer protect Firefox, that behaviour wasn't noticed when I was running the full Z program.
The full Z noticed the intrusion of Trusteer and they worked side by side after I allowed the rule change.


David, if either you or Bill do run across another Z giveaway please keep me in mind.

Thanks for the heads up.
When you add the activation number to an existing account, it will only bring it up to a total of 365 days. It will not add 365 more days to what you have left.
The activation number is found in the readme text doc, after D/L the program and extracting the files.
If you follow Zemana on Twitter, they will add another 90 days to your subscription.
