I've been a recluse as of late, watching a lot of movies and such. Which for some reason made me wonder last night if zombies would be able to climb a fence. Think its possible?

I think if they were zombies like in "28 Days Later" then they probably could but if they were zombies in like "Resident Evil" then they probably couldn't (there is a scene in the third film where they can't).

If it was a true zombie meaning brought back to life with limited motor skills then no they cant climb fences. But with today's moves and having to make them insane they can.

Assuming zombies are possible and there are only two possible subsets of a zombie type (28 days vs 'The rest') and that said zombie of either subset was in a state of full infection, the answer is yes to the first subset and no to the second.

The first subset: Type A- The '28 days zombie' - retains a higher degree of cognitive function and motor control which would allow more complex tasks, such as fence climbing, to be performed.

The second subset:Type B- The 'Rest' (otherwise known as a generic zombie)- when portrayed exhibit the same level of cognitive function as a partial lobotomy patient, do not have the same level of motor control or cognitive power to enable them to perform any semblance of complex tasks.

Speed vs Weed human analogy:

Type A would be like someone on Speed "I'm going to climb this fence, I'm climbing this fence, I'm a climbing, climb, yeah climb this flapping fence man, I'm climbing this flapping fence, I climbed that flapping fence man"

Type B would be like someone full of weed "Fence? Nah man, can't be flapped. I'm not climbing the fence. Why the flap do I want to climb a fence? Oh yeah, that's right - nah, still can't be flapped."

Alternatively, there is the logical answer and that is that zombies don't exist and the 'can a zombie climb a fence' question is automatically rendered moot.

As the pseudo-scientific explanation goes Zombies are limited to the very basic of needs So I say, they might run against a fence and bring it down through sheer numbers/combined body weight. but they lack the mental capacity/problem solving skills to climb an obstacle.
We're talking about Zombies here and not Constructs a la Frankenstein ;)

LOL man :D

Thus why are we having this conversation?

Anyway I'll go to my childhood recollection of zombies and say no they ain't climbing fences.

On the other hand, with modern TV they'd be piloting spaceships and building starships

Now your giving Syfy summer block buster away.... Scientist Zombie.

On the note of Syfy, I hate the fact that they changed their name from SciFi (which was the channel was all about) to Syfy because some people were idiots and didn't know SciFi was short for science fiction.

Syfy doesn't even make sense.

They didn't change their name because of that did they? That's giving in to stupidity.

Anyway I see it's 7-1 for not climbing fences :D

They recently screened TV series The Walking Dead here. I enjoyed it. In the final episode a scientist shows what is supposedly a brain scan of someone dying from a zombie bite.
All the major frontal lobe activity (personality, intelligence and reasoning etc) shuts down first and then the lower brain stem finally stops and they are dead.
Then, as the Zombie infection takes hold the brain stem begins to reactivate and they come back to "life"
The lower brain contains the autonomic system. All the stuff we do without consciously thinking about it is controlled by this autopilot. It tells our hearts to beat and our lungs to breathe, it tells us to eat and excrete.
So far so good. You got these mindless automata satisfying their basic needs. They aint bad guys, they're just maintaining themselves by eating us. Can't blame em.
However, in the first episode, hero Rick is startled by a crawling female torso cut off at the waist. How can this half creature eat and gain energy when it doesn't have a digestive system?
Just saying.:)

Sadly enough, they did. They even announced the reasons before the change of name back in 2009 and one of the main reasons was because people didn't know the meaning behind "SciFi" or what it stood for. It was mainly people who have never watched the channel or rarely ever watched it.

I still love the channel, but man...16 years of "SciFi" to become something as dumb as "Syfy" was hurtful. :(

I think the closest thing to a Zombie would be Rabies mixed with the Genes of Flu so it can spread more easily

I am saying NO but who knows

I could almost forgive the crap awful name if they stopped cancelling shows!

I cringe when I hear about a new show on siffy, because I know that there is a strong chance I'll be left hanging because it didn't rate quick enough...

I am going to go with no, due to both the lack of cognitive function, and the fact that they are dead.
