How to Copy a CD/DVD with only one CD/DVD Drive in Windows​


   Information
This will show how to make a copy of a CD/DVD if you have only one optical disk drive (ODD) using ISO Recorder by Alex Feinman.

It won't appear in the Programs list, only in the context menu as shown below in figure 2.

Your ODD may speed up or stop at times during the process, it is normal, don't eject until done.









First install




1. Ok, here goes. Put the original disk in the ODD (optical disk drive) close any window the disk brings up. I have use a w7 install disk for this demo.

2. Open Computer, right click the ODD with the disk.

3. The Recorder window will open, adjust as shown below.

4. When you click Next it will start copying, which is making an .iso image of the disk's contents in a temp directory.

5.Give it a few minutes to finish, it can take some time depending of ths size of the original disk.

6. You will get this after the copy is done, eject the disk and place a new, blank DVD/R disk in the ODD and close it, click OK, it may take a few moments for it to recognize the disk, keep trying . Recording will start and will also take some time.

7. Now it's all done and you have an exact copy of the original disk.
